Document conversions do not work after you perform an in-place upgrade to SharePoint Server 2010

SYMPTOMS
After you perform an in-place upgrade to Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, document conversions no longer work. Therefore, no document is converted.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the Document Conversions Load Balancer service and the Document Conversions Launcher service are stopped after the in-place upgrade.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, stop the Document Conversions Load Balancer service and the Document Conversions Launcher service for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Then, start the Document Conversions Load Balancer service and the Document Conversions Launcher service for SharePoint Server 2010. Finally, enable document conversions for the Web application that you use. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
  2. Right-click Document Conversions Load Balancer for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, and then click Stop.
  3. Right-click Document Conversions Launcher for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, and then click Stop.
  4. Right-click Document Conversions Load Balancer for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, and then click Start.
  5. Right-click Document Conversions Launcher for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, and then click Start.
  6. Enable document conversions for the Web application that you use. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. On the Central Administration page, click General Application Settings.
    2. Under External Service Connections, click Configure document conversions.
    3. In the Enable Document Conversions section, click to select Yes for the Enable document conversions for this site option.
    4. Click OK.
