Symptoms

You perform some operations that use a USB device on a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008. However, these operations take longer than expected to complete.

For example, you use a USB smartcard to log on to a domain or to sign email messages. When you try to use the tokens that are stored in the smartcard, the operation takes about two to three minutes. However, you expect the operation to complete in several seconds.

MANIFEST files and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are very important to maintain the state of the updated components. The security catalog files, for which the attributes are not listed, are signed with a Microsoft digital signature.
