An update is available for MSN Toolbar

INTRODUCTION
An update is available through Windows Update for MSN Toolbar 3.0. This update improves the stability and the reliability of the toolbar. After you install this update, the currently installed toolbar will be upgraded to the latest version of Bing Bar.

Note MSN Toolbar is now known as Bing Bar.

This update includes the following improvements:
  • The update installs Bing Bar on both Mozilla Firefox and Windows Internet Explorer. Previously, MSN Toolbar only supported Internet Explorer.
    Note This update is available through Windows Update and is targeted at computers that do not have Firefox installed. However, if you install Firefox after you install this update, Bing Bar and its supported add-ons will also appear in Firefox.
  • The update installs the following extensions on Internet Explorer:
    • Bing Bar
    • Search Helper
    • Windows Live ID Sign-in Helper
    • Bing Bar BHO
  • The update installs the following extensions on Firefox:
    • Bing Bar
    • Default Manager 2.2
    • Search Helper Extension 1.0

Issues that this update fixes

  • Addresses some issues in which the toolbar causes Internet Explorer to crash.
  • Adds improvements that provide a deeper integration of the toolbar with Windows Live Hotmail and with Windows Live Messenger.

Uninstall Bing Bar

To uninstall MSN Toolbar from Windows Vista or from Windows 7, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
  3. In the Uninstall or change program list, click Bing Bar, and then click Uninstall.
  4. Follow the instructions.
To uninstall MSN Toolbar from Windows XP, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. In the Currently installed programs list, click Bing Bar, and then click Remove.
  3. Follow the instructions.
