In Teams for your personal life, you can easily create meetings with your contacts. You can create instant meetings when you want to start the meeting now, or you can create scheduled meetings to share with your contacts. Learn how to join a meeting.

Create an instant meeting:

  1. There are multiple ways to create an instant meeting:

    • From your Chat tab, tap Start an instant meeting Meet now button   at the top of the list.

    • Tap the Calendar tab, then tap Start an instant meeting Meet now button   at the top of the screen.

  2. You can tap Edit Edit button   to change the name of the meeting.

  3. Tap Share meeting invite The Share button  to share your meeting link via SMS and more.

  4. Tap Copy meeting link Copy meeting link button  to copy the meeting invite link to your clipboard.

  5. Tap Start meeting to begin.

    • Your meeting is created, and your meeting link is displayed in the meeting chat. You can copy and share this link at any time.

  6. Set your audio and video options and tap Join now. You can Add participants or Share the meeting invite for people to join.
     

    Note: If you don't want to have users enter the meeting's lobby before they're able to join, disable it by tapping  Show participants button  Meeting participantsMeeting options button  Meeting options, and select Everyone for Who can bypass the lobby in the dropdown.

To create a scheduled meeting:

  1. From the Calendar tab, tap Add event  Add button   at the bottom right of the screen.

  2. Give your meeting a name in the Title field.

  3. Tap the Online meeting toggle to On to generate your online meeting link.

  4. You can set the meeting for All day, or you can fill out the start and end fields to schedule your meeting. You can also set the meeting to repeat or add details.

  5. Tap Submit  Teams OK button to schedule your meeting.

  6. Your meeting appears on your Calendar; tap the meeting, then tap Share meeting invite The Share button  to share your meeting link via SMS, Skype, and more.

  7. Tap Join to start the meeting, set your audio and video options, and select Join now to enter the meeting as host.

    Note: If you don't want to have users enter the meeting's lobby before they're able to join, disable it by tapping  Show participants button  Meeting participantsMeeting options button  Meeting options, and select Everyone for Who can bypass the lobby in the dropdown.

What can I do in a meeting?

Important: The options can vary based on screen size. If you do not see the button, you may need to tap More  More options button  to bring up more call options.

In the meeting, you can:

  • Tap Teams Chat Bubbles button  Chat to display the meeting chat.

  • Tap Show participants button  Meeting participants, where you can add members from your contacts.

  • Share button Share photos, videos, or your device screen.

  • Raise Hand button  Raise your hand in the call.

  • Video off button  Enable/disable your camera.

  • Microphone button  Mute/unmute your microphone.

  • Mobile speaker options button  Change your audio options to DeviceSpeaker, or Audio off.

  • Tap More  More options button to bring up more call options.

    • Hold button Put yourself on hold.

    •   Video off button  Turn off incoming video.

    • Layout button  Change the layout.

Create an instant meeting:

  1. There are multiple ways to create an instant meeting:

    • From your Chat tab, tap Start an instant meeting Meet now button   at the top of the list.

    • Tap the Calendar tab, then tap Start an instant meeting Meet now button   at the top of the screen.

  2. You can tap Edit Edit button   to change the name of the meeting.

  2. Give your meeting a name in the Title field.

  3. Tap the Online meeting toggle to On to generate your online meeting link.

  4. Use the Start and End fields to schedule your meeting. You can also set the meeting to repeat or add details.

  5. Tap Done to schedule your meeting.

  6. Your meeting appears on your Calendar; tap the meeting, then tap Share meeting invite The Share button  to share your meeting link via SMS, Skype, and more.

  7. Tap the meeting in your Calendar, then tap Join to start the meeting, set your audio and video options, and select Join now to enter the meeting as host.

What can I do in meetings?

    • Open Microsoft Teams. From your Chat tab, select New Meeting Video call button  at the top of the list.

    • Open Microsoft Teams. Select the Calendar tab, select Meet now Video call button  at the top of the screen, and then select Create a meeting.

  2. Enter a name for the meeting.

  3. Select Get a link to share to generate a link that you can copy to your clipboard and share in any way you wish.
     

    Note: After you select Get a link to share, you can disable users entering the meeting's lobby before they're able to join, by clicking Configure Meeting options, then in your default browser select Who can bypass the lobby in the dropdown menu and click Save.

  4. Select Start meeting to begin. Your meeting is created, and your meeting link is displayed in the meeting chat.
     

    Note: You can select Copy Meeting link to generate a link to share, Share via Outlook Calendar, Share via Google Calendar, or Share via default email in Teams for Windows 11.

  5. Set your audio and video options, and then select Join nowLearn more about how to customize your background in the pre-join screen.

To create a scheduled meeting:

  1. Open Microsoft Teams.

  2. From the Calendar tab, select New Meeting at the top of the screen.

  3. Give your meeting a name in the Title field.

  4. You can set the meeting for All day, or you can fill out the start and end fields to schedule your meeting. You can also set the meeting to repeat or add details.

  5. Select Save to schedule your meeting.

  6. You can choose Copy link  Copy meeting link button to copy your meeting invite link and share in any way you wish. Your meeting will also appear on your Calendar; you can open the meeting at any time and select Copy link Copy meeting link button  to copy your meeting invite link.

    • You can configure the meeting's privacy options by clicking Meeting options. A new tab should open in your default browser where you can set Who can bypass the lobby and Who can present options in the dropdown menu.

    • Change your view.

    • Change your screen size:

      • The focus button  Focus mode.

      • View a call in full screen View the call in Full screen.

      • Video off button  Turn off incoming video.

  • Video off button   Enable/disable your camera.

  • Microphone button  Mute/unmute your microphone.

  • Share button  Share your screen.

Create an instant meeting:

  1. There are multiple ways to create an instant meeting:

    • From your Chat tab, click New Meeting Meet now button  above your chat list.

    • Select the Calendar tab, click Meet now Meet now button   at the top of the screen, and then click Create a meeting.

  2. Enter a name for the meeting.

  3. Click Get a link to share to generate a link that you can copy to your clipboard and share in any way you wish.

    Note: After you click Get a link to share, you can disable users entering the meeting's lobby before they're able to join, by clicking Configure Meeting options. A new tab should open in your default browser where you can change Who can bypass the lobby in the dropdown menu. Set your options and then click Save.

  4. Select Start meeting to begin.

    Note: Your browser will ask permission to use your recording device, and you must grant access if you wish to speak in the meeting. You will have the option to disable sound for the meeting.

To create a scheduled meeting:

  1. From the Calendar tab, select the New Meeting button at the top of the screen.

  2. Give your meeting a name in the Title field.

  3. You can set the meeting for All day, or you can fill out the start and end fields to schedule your meeting. You can also set the meeting to repeat or add details.

  4. Select Save to schedule your meeting.

  5. You can choose Copy link  Copy meeting link button to copy your meeting invite link and share in any way you wish, or you can use Google Calendar to create and send the meeting through Google Calendar. Your meeting will also appear on your calendar.

    • You can open the meeting at any time and select Copy link Copy meeting link button to copy your meeting invite link.
