It’s easy to reach out to your friends and family with Chat in Windows 11. 

  1. Select Chat from the Windows 11 taskbar.

  2. Select the Chat  New Chat icon for Teams button.

  3. In the To: field, enter the name, email or phone number of the person you want to chat with. You can continue to add people in the To: field to create a group and select Add group name to make it easier to find the group chat after it's created.

    Note: You can only add a group name if you have added two or more participants to the chat.

  4. Send a message to the chat and if a participant isn't already using Microsoft Teams, they will receive an invitation to join.

  5. From within your chat, you can:

    • Format Teams format icon  - make your messages stand out in the chat.

    • Attach Files  Attach a file button - share pictures or files that are important to you.

    • Emoji  The emoji/meme/GIF button - send emojis to liven up the conversation.

    • Giphy  GIF/Sticker button - search for and send the perfect GIF.

    • Polls  Teams Polls button - get your group's feedback or help with a decision.
