Follow these steps to delete your GroupMe account. 

Important: 

  • If you change your mind about deleting your account, you have 48 hours to reactivate it. Click the link in the confirmation email or SMS we sent you, or simply log back in to GroupMe to cancel the account deletion.

  • If you don’t restore your account within 48 hours, it’s deleted and you can’t get it back.

  1. Select your profile picture.

  2. Tap the Edit profile button and tap Edit  Edit button.

  3. Select the Delete GroupMe Account link.

  • If you don’t own any groups:

    1. A final confirmation screen appears.

    2. Select Delete.

    3. You are logged out of GroupMe, and your account is marked for deletion.

  • If you are the owner of a group, you must transfer ownership or end the group before deleting your account:

    1. Select Transfer, then on the next screen, select a new owner from the member list or choose End Group.

    2. Repeat for each group you own. You’re taken back to the Edit Profile screen.

    3. Select Delete GroupMe Account again.

    4. Enter your password to confirm that you want to delete your account, then select Continue.

    5. Select Delete. You are logged out of GroupMe, and your account is scheduled for deletion.

4. On the confirmation screen, select Continue (you might be asked to enter your password first).

  1. Select your profile picture.

  2. Tap Edit profile.

  3. Scroll down and tap the Delete GroupMe Account link.

  4. On the confirmation screen, select Continue (you might be asked to enter your password first).

  5. Delete your GroupMe account:

  • If you don’t own any groups:

    1. A final confirmation screen appears.

    2. Select Delete.

    3. You are logged out of GroupMe, and your account is marked for deletion.

  • If you are the owner of a group, you must transfer ownership or end the group before deleting your account:

    1. Select Transfer, then on the next screen, select a new owner from the member list or choose End Group.

    2. Repeat for each group you own. You’re taken back to the Edit Profile screen.

    3. Select Delete GroupMe Account again.

  1. Select your avatar (profile picture) to open your profile, then select the pencil  Edit button to edit your profile.

  2. Select the Delete GroupMe Account link.

  • If you don’t own any groups:

    2. Select Delete.

    3. You are logged out of GroupMe, and your account is marked for deletion.

  • If you are the owner of a group, you must transfer ownership or end the group before deleting your account:

  2. Select the Delete GroupMe Account link.

  3. On the confirmation screen, select Continue (you might be asked to enter your password first).

  4. Delete your GroupMe account:

  • If you don’t own any groups:

    1. A final confirmation screen appears.

    2. Select Delete.

    3. You are logged out of GroupMe, and your account is marked for deletion.
