Keyboard shortcuts for OneDrive for Business

Many users find that using an external keyboard with keyboard shortcuts for OneDrive for work or school helps them work more efficiently. For users with mobility or vision disabilities, keyboard shortcuts can be easier than using the touchscreen, and are an essential alternative to using a mouse.

Notes: 

  • The shortcuts in this topic refer to the US keyboard layout. Keys for other layouts might not correspond exactly to the keys on a US keyboard.

  • A plus sign (+) in a shortcut means that you need to press multiple keys at the same time.

  • A comma sign (,) in a shortcut means that you need to press multiple keys in order.

Arrow keys

Select all files and folders when the focus is in the contents grid.

Ctrl+A

Clear all or navigate to the previous folder.

Esc

Select a file or folder or clear the selection.

Spacebar

Upload an item.

Download a selected item.

Ctrl+S

Share the selected file or folder.

Move through the tree view navigation pane.

Create a new folder when nothing is selected.

Move the focus to the New item menu.

Download the selected item.

Ctrl+S

Rename the selected file or folder.

F2

Share the selected file or folder.

Shift+F10, Down arrow key until you reach the Download option, and then Enter.

Tab key until you reach the Save button, then Enter.

Delete the selected item.

Share the selected folder or file.

Rename the selected file.

Open the New menu.

Create a new folder.

Shift+F, Spacebar, and then type the folder name.

To do this

Press

Move between the browser bar and OneDrive for work or school.

F6 or Ctrl+F6

Move between the OneDrive for work or school regions.

Tab key or Shift+Tab

Move through the list of items (in the Navigation pane or Files list).

Up or Down arrow key

Select a file or clear a file selection (in the Files list).

Spacebar

Get information about the selected file, for example, the file name (in the Files list).

Right or Left arrow key

Open the context menu for the selected item.
