Use questions and answers in Yammer to capture and disseminate knowledge in Yammer communities. You can post questions in a Yammer community, and the question poster or any community admin can mark the best answer to a question. The best answer shows up right under the question, making it easy to get right to the information people need.
You can turn a regular conversation into a question if you created the conversation or are a community admin. This can be helpful if the post is better suited to be a question but wasn’t first created as one. It also enables you to use question and answer features, such as marking a best answer and enabling people to view this in unanswered questions if people haven’t responded.
You can also specify that questions are the default type of conversation post for a specific community, if you are a community admin. This can be helpful If you are managing a community where people primarily ask and answer questions, such as a knowledge-based community.
Post a question
All community members can post a question.
On the desktop app or web:
Select the Question post type.
Type your question, and then click Ask.
On a mobile device:
At the bottom of the screen, click the question icon.

Answer a question
All community members can answer a question.
To answer a question, just reply to it.
Mark a response as Best Answer
The person who posted the question and all community admins can mark a response as best answer. For questions in the All Company community, network and verified admins can mark a response as best answer.
In the conversation options below the answer, select Mark Best Answer. If you don't see Mark Best Answer, it means you don't have permission to mark the post as the best answer.
The post will be marked as Best Answer, and it will be pinned right under the question. If there are other answers, you'll see a link to click to read them.
You can update the Best Answer if a new answer is posted that is better than the current one. In the new best answer, select Best Answer.
Or, if you want to remove the Best Answer designation from an answer -- for example, if the question still doesn't have a good answer -- click Unmark Best Answer.
Change the conversation type from a regular discussion-style message to a question
On a regular discussion-style message, click the More Options dropdown to the right of the conversation, and then click Change to Question.
Note: You can also change a question to a regular discussion message by clicking the More Options dropdown on a question, and then clicking Change to Message. Once you change a question with a Best Answer to a regular message, it will lose its designated best answer, even if you change it back into a question later.
Specify questions as the default conversation type
If you are a community admin, you can specify the question as the default conversation type to help guide community members to create questions.
In the community , click the More Options dropdown to the right of the community name , and then click Settings .
Under Default Publisher Type, select Question.

Hover over the best answer.
See all unanswered questions in community
At the top of a community feed, click the down arrow in the community filter. By default, this filter will be set to All Conversations.
Choose All Questions to see all the questions in the community. To see all questions without a Best Answer, choose Unanswered Questions.
Tip: If a community has a pinned conversation, the filter will appear below the pinned conversation and above the first post in the feed.
Q: Can I mark more than one answer as a Best Answer?
A: No, only one post can be selected. If a better answer is posted, the question poster or a community admin can change which post is marked as the best answer. Consider posting a new answer that includes all the content of the proposed multiple best answers and marking that one as Best Answer.
Q: Can I change a regular discussion-style conversation to a question?
A: Yes, you can change a regular discussion message to a question, and a question to a regular discussion message.
Q: Can I create a group that just has questions, with no regular discussions or announcements?
A: If you are a community admin, you can specify that questions are the default conversation type for a community. People can still change the conversation type, but as a community admin, you can use the About section and announcements to educate community members. If needed, you can also change regular discussion messages into questions.
