Virtualized Visio access

Can the Visio desktop app be used in a virtualized environment? Yes. This article explains what is allowed:

If you have the Visio Plan 2 subscription

You may install and use licensed copies of Visio on:

  • Dedicated hardware    Physical servers maintained and used only by your organization, as long as the server hardware isn't provided by a service from Alibaba, Amazon, or Google. Multi-tenancy isn't allowed.

  • Azure    Either dedicated hardware or on multi-tenant architecture.

  • Certain third-party multi-tenant hosts    Microsoft has a program that qualifies third-party hosts for this kind of arrangement. Click here to download a list a qualified third-party hosts. For details of the program, see Qualified Multi-tenant Hoster Program.

If you have a perpetual version of Visio 

You may install and use licensed copies of Visio on:

  • Dedicated hardware    Physical servers maintained and used only by your organization, as long as the server hardware isn't provided by a service from Alibaba, Amazon, or Google.

  • A multi-tenant host    The host must have a Services Provider Licensing Agreement with Microsoft. An SPLA provides the license rights to host specific Microsoft products.
