General FAQs

Why is Clipchamp asking me to save my projects to Microsoft OneDrive?

Clipchamp is now integrated with OneDrive, ensuring optimal storage for our Clipchamp subscribers via the cloud. Projects are automatically saved, to help ensure they are safe, secure, and accessible. Additionally, with OneDrive, you can now export and share videos across different devices by logging in with your Microsoft account. You can also store projects on your local device disk if you wish to archive them.

When is this change happening?

Changes to the free account tier started in late August 2025. Changes to Clipchamp Premium begin on January 20, 2025.

Are Clipchamp Work or Education subscriptions included in these changes?

Clipchamp Work or Education subscriptions provided to you by your work or school already store video editing projects in OneDrive and remain unchanged.

How do I ensure my existing projects are not lost?

Saving projects in OneDrive will ensure your projects are safely stored and available for future editing. If you encounter any issues with saving your editing projects, the following suggestions can help - Troubleshooting OneDrive-backed Clipchamp editing projects.

How does Clipchamp help me manage the amount of cloud storage my projects are taking up?

You can see your storage on the homepage after logging into the Clipchamp video editor, so you know how much free space you have in OneDrive. When browsing your projects, you can also see which ones are backed up and editable across devices, and which ones are not. For efficient use of your cloud storage, you can choose which projects to back up to OneDrive or not.

What happens if I choose not to save my projects to OneDrive?

If you don't want to save your existing projects to OneDrive, you can archive them to your local disk. However, to edit again in the future, you'll need to upload them to OneDrive.

Will project folders remain untouched?

Clipchamp will no longer display folders in its user interface. To organize your projects, you'll have to do this on OneDrive similar to your other files.

Additional options to save projects will still be available to users.
