This article describes the Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 issue that is fixed in the hotfix package that is dated February 22, 2011.

INTRODUCTION

Issue that this hotfix package fixes

Assume that you use smartcard-based authentication in Office Outlook 2007. Your smartcard has a personal identification number (PIN) lockout policy. Additionally, you are allowed to enter an incorrect PIN several times without going over the PIN lockout threshold. However, the smartcard is locked unexpectedly the first time you enter an incorrect PIN.


Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problems that are described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problems described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

You must have 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 installed to apply this hotfix package.
