Should I delete the individual Microsoft 365 apps? Or can I keep them?

The Microsoft 365 app for iOS works independently of any individual Microsoft 365 apps that you may have installed on your iPhone already (such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). You can either keep the individual Microsoft 365 apps on your iPhone, or delete them to reclaim storage space — the choice is yours!

For more information, see How to delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch or Apple iPhone Support.

We strongly recommend that you fully back up your device data before deleting any apps.

Where can I save new files?

You will be prompted to save your work when you close your files. All of your files can be saved on either your (OneDrive account, third-party cloud storage account, or on your iPhone (except Scan Text and Scan Table, which are saved to your device).

How does text conversion from image captures work and what languages are supported?

The Microsoft 365 app for iOS uses Microsoft Lens to scan and capture information in images, which can be converted to text through Optical Character Recognition (OCR). The effectiveness of OCR depends on the quality of the image you’re working with, as well as the complexity, legibility, and the amount of text shown in the picture.

After you convert text from an image, you can review it to make sure it was recognized properly. For more information about currently supported OCR languages, see Microsoft Lens for iOS.

After converting text from image captures, will the images be saved?

No, captured images from which you’ve converted text will not be saved to Photos on your iPhone.

Note: If you choose to export image captures directly to Word, the images are appended to the document.
