Use Cortana on your lock screen

Make it easy to access Cortana anytime, anywhere—even if your screen is locked.


  1. Open the Cortana app.

  2. Select Settings .

  3. Scroll down to Lock screen and turn on Use Cortana even when my device is locked.

  4. Select the check box next to Let Cortana access my calendar, email, messages, and other content data when my device is locked if you want to let Cortana use your information when your screen is locked.


  1. Swipe right from the lock screen.

  2. Scroll to the bottom and select Edit.

  3. Enter your passcode or Touch ID, then scroll down the list to find available Cortana widgets:

  • The Cortana widget lets you interact with Cortana in lock screen, plus view your calendar and add new events and reminders.

  • The Event widget gives you a full view of your day and lets you add new events.

  • The Reminder widget lets you make new time, location, or photo reminders.


  1. Open the Cortana app.

  2. Select Menu  , then select Settings .

  3. Under Entry point:

  • To use Cortana in lock screen, select Lock screen settings,then turn on Cortana on lock screen.

  • To set Cortana as your default assistant, select Set Cortana as default assistant. Select Assist app, then choose Cortana.
