Superfluous planning lines are generated when you run the "Calculate Regenerative Plan" function for an item in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1

Applies to: Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Service Pack 1

This article applies to Microsoft Dynamics NAV for all countries and all language locales.

Symptoms

Assume that an item has two stockkeeping units (SKUs), one uses the "Fixed Reorder Qty." reordering policy, and another one uses the "Maximum Qty." reordering policy in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 with Service Pack 1 (SP1). When you run the Calculate Regenerative Plan function for the item, one or more superfluous planning lines are generated. The planning engine suggests incorrect quantities. This results in an overstock.

Resolution

Code changes

Note Always test code fixes in a controlled environment before you apply the fixes to your production computers.

To install this hotfix, change the code in the codeunit (99000854) and in the codeunit (99000855). To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Change code in the PlanItem function in the codeunit (99000854) as follows:
    Existing code
    ...
    IF LastProjectedInventory + SupplyWithinLeadtime < TempSKU."Reorder Point" THEN BEGIN // Delete this line.
    InitSupply(Supply,0,0D);
    ...
    Replacement code
     ...
    IF IsReorderPointPlanning AND // Add this line.
    (LastProjectedInventory + SupplyWithinLeadtime <= TempSKU."Reorder Point") // Add this line.
    THEN BEGIN // Add this line.
    InitSupply(Supply,0,0D);
    ...

  2. Change code in the CalcReorderQty function in the codeunit (99000854) as follows:
    Existing code
    ...
    TempSKU."Reordering Policy"::"Maximum Qty.":
    BEGIN
    // Delete the following lines.
    IF TempSKU."Maximum Inventory" < TempSKU."Reorder Point" THEN
    QtyToOrder := TempSKU."Reorder Point" - ProjectedInventory
    ELSE
    QtyToOrder := TempSKU."Maximum Inventory" - ProjectedInventory;
    // The end of deleted lines.
    Transparency.LogSurplus(
    ...
    Replacement code
     ...
    TempSKU."Reordering Policy"::"Maximum Qty.":
    BEGIN
    // Add the following lines.
    IF TempSKU."Maximum Inventory" <= TempSKU."Reorder Point" THEN BEGIN
    IF PlanningResilicency THEN
    IF SKU.GET(TempSKU."Location Code",TempSKU."Item No.",TempSKU."Variant Code") THEN
    ReqLine.SetResiliencyError(
    STRSUBSTNO(
    Text004,SKU.FIELDCAPTION("Maximum Inventory"),SKU."Maximum Inventory",SKU.TABLECAPTION,
    SKU."Location Code",SKU."Item No.",SKU."Variant Code",
    SKU.FIELDCAPTION("Reorder Point"),SKU."Reorder Point"),
    DATABASE::"Stockkeeping Unit",SKU.GETPOSITION)
    ELSE
    IF Item.GET(TempSKU."Item No.") THEN
    ReqLine.SetResiliencyError(
    STRSUBSTNO(
    Text005,Item.FIELDCAPTION("Maximum Inventory"),Item."Maximum Inventory",Item.TABLECAPTION,
    Item."No.",Item.FIELDCAPTION("Reorder Point"),Item."Reorder Point"),
    DATABASE::Item,Item.GETPOSITION);
    TempSKU.TESTFIELD("Maximum Inventory",TempSKU."Reorder Point" + 1); // Assertion
    END;

    QtyToOrder := TempSKU."Maximum Inventory" - ProjectedInventory;
    // The end of new lines.
    Transparency.LogSurplus(
    ...

  3. Change code in the MaintainProjectedInv function in the codeunit (99000854) as follows:
    Existing code
    ...
    ROPHasBeenCrossed :=
    (LastProjectedInventory + SupplyIncrementQty >= TempSKU."Reorder Point") AND // Delete this line.
    (NewProjectedInv < TempSKU."Reorder Point") OR // Delete this line.
    (NewProjectedInv + FutureSupplyWithinLeadtime < TempSKU."Reorder Point"); // Delete this line.
    LastProjectedInventory := NewProjectedInv;
    ...

    Replacement code
    ...
    ROPHasBeenCrossed :=
    (LastProjectedInventory + SupplyIncrementQty > TempSKU."Reorder Point") AND // Add this line.
    (NewProjectedInv < = TempSKU."Reorder Point") OR // Add this line.
    (NewProjectedInv + FutureSupplyWithinLeadtime < = TempSKU."Reorder Point"); // Add this line.
    LastProjectedInventory := NewProjectedInv;
    ...
  4. Change code in the CreateSupplyForward function in the codeunit (99000854) as follows:
    Existing code 1
    ...
    // Ensure that QtyToOrder is large enough to reach ROP:
    IF QtyToOrder < (TempSKU."Reorder Point" - ProjectedInventory) THEN // Delete this line.
    QtyToOrder := TempSKU."Reorder Point" - ProjectedInventory; // Delete this line.
    ...

    Replacement code 1
    ...

    // Ensure that QtyToOrder is large enough to exceed ROP:
    IF QtyToOrder < (TempSKU."Reorder Point" + 1 - ProjectedInventory) THEN // Add this line.
    QtyToOrder := // Add this line.
    ROUND((TempSKU."Reorder Point" - ProjectedInventory) / TempSKU."Reorder Quantity" + 0.000000001,1,'>') * // Add this line.
    TempSKU."Reorder Quantity"; // Add this line.
    ...

    Existing code 2
    ...
    IF SupplyWithinLeadtime + ProjectedInventory > = TempSKU."Reorder Point" THEN BEGIN // Delete this line.
    // Delete obsolete Planning Line
    ...

    Replacement code 2
    ...
    IF SupplyWithinLeadtime + ProjectedInventory > TempSKU."Reorder Point" THEN BEGIN // Add this line.
    // Delete obsolete Planning Line
    ...

  5. Change the code in the AdjustInvalidValues function in the codeunit (99000855) as follows:
    1. Add a new parameter "ReorderPointEnabled".
      • Name: ReorderPointEnabled
      • DataType: Boolean
    2. Change the code as follows:
      Existing code
      ...
      IF SKU."Reorder Point" <= SKU."Safety Stock Quantity" THEN // Delete this line.
      SKU."Reorder Point" := 0; // Delete this line.
      ...

      Replacement code
      ...

      IF (SKU."Reorder Point" < SKU."Safety Stock Quantity") AND // Add this line.
      ReorderPointEnabled // Add this line.
      THEN // Add this line.
      SKU."Reorder Point" := SKU."Safety Stock Quantity"; // Add this line.
      ...

  6. Change the code in the AdjustInvalidSettings function in the codeunit (99000855) as follows:
    Existing code
    ...
    AdjustInvalidValues(SKU); // Delete this line.
    ...

    Replacement code
    ...
    AdjustInvalidValues(SKU,ReorderPointEnabled); // Add this line.
    ...
