Latest updates for versions of Office that use Windows Installer (MSI)

This article describes update KB3054881 for Microsoft Outlook 2010 that was released on June 9, 2015. This update has a prerequisite.

Improvements and fixes

  • Translates some strings for the Publish Online function for calendars in Outlook 2010. See publishing a calendar on Office.com will no longer be supported for more information about this function.

  • Fixes the following issues:

    • It takes a long time to recover a disconnection for an Exchange account that uses the MAPI over HTTP protocol in Outlook 2010. Outlook 2010 sends a request again to the Exchanger server instead of reconnecting the server.

    • When certain attachments are deleted by code (for example, an add-in or a third-party application) from a rich text format (RTF) email message in Outlook 2010, inline images of a signature are misplaced and displayed in unexpected positions.

    • When you change the permissions of a calendar in Outlook 2010, the calendar disappears.

    • You cannot open some iCal events that are created by an Apple device (for example, iPhone) in Outlook 2010 even if they are supported in Outlook 2010.

    • When you use double quotation marks to search a restrictive phrase in an online archived mailbox, a mailbox in online mode, or a mailbox in hybrid mode in Outlook 2010, you receive unexpected search results.

Note To resolve this issue, see unexpected search results when you use double quotation marks to search items in a mailbox in Outlook 2010 (KB3054895).

    • When you view a hierarchical address book (HAB) in a cached mode profile in Outlook 2010, the contact entries are sorted by creation dates, not alphabetically.

Note This issue only occurs if Outlook 2010 uses an offline address book in a non-Japanese environment. To resolve this issue, see contact entries are not sorted alphabetically in a hierarchical address book in Outlook 2010 (KB3054896).

    • When you try to find related messages for an email message (by using the Messages in This Conversations function) in Outlook 2010, no results are returned even if there are messages that have the same subject.

    • After you migrate your primary mailbox from an Exchange Server 2010 server to an Exchange Server 2013 server that has the MAPI over HTTP protocol enabled, you cannot open additional mailboxes (such as shared folders) in Outlook 2010. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. Your profile is not configured.

    • When you reply to an email message that is not the latest message in a conversion in Outlook 2010, a mail tip that resembles the following is not displayed:

You are not responding to the latest message in this conversion. Click here to open it.

This issue occurs after you apply February 10, 2015, update for Outlook 2010 (KB2956128).

    • When you have many email messages opened in Outlook 2010, Outlook 2010 crashes randomly.

    • When a migrated delegate views another user's meeting requests in Outlook 2010, Outlook 2010 crashes. This issue occurs if the delegate is in an Exchange forest that's different from the user's Exchange forest.

    • Assume that you use the MAPI over HTTP protocol to connect to an Exchange account in Outlook 2010. If the protocol is changed to the RPC protocol or the RPC over HTTP protocol, you cannot connect to archive mailboxes.

    • When you configure an Exchange account by using the MAPI over HTTP protocol in Outlook 2010, the Encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange option is unavailable (appears dimmed) and cannot be selected on the Security tab.

    • When you exit Outlook 2010, Outlook 2010 takes longer than expected to close. This issue occurs if Outlook 2010 has an Exchange account that uses the MAPI over HTTP protocol.
