Outlook 2010 crashes when your profile includes an IMAP account


You find that your installation of Microsoft Outlook 2010 randomly crashes. In this situation, you may see one or more of the following crash signatures under event ID 1000 in the Application log.

If your Outlook profile includes an IMAP account, this problem occurs after you install one of the following updates:

  • Outlook 2010 February 10, 2015, update KB2956128
  • Outlook 2010 March 10, 2015, update KB2956203
  • Outlook 2010 March 26, 2015, update KB2965290

To review the Application log, follow these steps:

  1. In Control Panel, open the Administrative Tools item.
  2. Double-click Event Viewer.
  3. In the details pane, select Application under Windows Logs.
  4. In the Actions pane, click Filter Current Log.
  5. In the Filter Current Log dialog box, enter 1000 (as shown in the following screen shot), and then click OK.
