FIX: Queries fail if storage pool caching is enabled by default in SQL Server 2019 Big Data Cluster

Symptoms


Assume that storage pool caching is enabled by default in Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Big Data Cluster (BDC). When you run queries, you notice that the queries fail if the maximum database size is reached. To avoid this problem, storage pool caching must be disabled by default.

Status


Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. 

Resolution


This problem is fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

Workaround


To work around this problem, restart SQL Server to clear the cache, and then rerun the query.
