INTRODUCTION

This article discusses how to register the Microsoft FRx .dll files that are required for Microsoft FRx to run correctly.

More Information

  1. On the server or at the workstation at which you will follow these steps, exit Microsoft FRx.

Note To successfully follow these steps, the Windows user account must have permission to register .dll files. Therefore, make sure that you log on as a user who has sufficient user rights.

  2. On the server or at the workstation at which Microsoft FRx is installed, click Start, click Search, click All files and folders, type FRxReg, and then click Search.
  3. Depending on the current service pack level of Microsoft FRx, one or both of the following file names will be located. Double-click the file that matches the Microsoft FRx service pack level as follows:
    • If you are using Microsoft FRx 6.7 Service Pack 2 (FRx 6.7.2013) or an earlier version of Microsoft FRx 6.7, double-click the FRxReg.exe file.
    • If you are using Microsoft FRx 6.7 Service Pack 3 (FRx 6.7.3073) or a later version of Microsoft FRx 6.7, double-click the FRxReg67.cmd file.

Note You may double-click both files without any adverse effect. Both files will register the Microsoft FRx .dll files that are needed.
  4. Confirm that each Microsoft FRx .dll file is registered successfully. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Download the RegFiles-v2.6.txt file. To do this visit the following Microsoft Web site:
    2. Save the file to the Microsoft FRx code folder.

Note The Microsoft FRx code folder is the folder that contains the FRxReg.exe and FRxReg67.cmd files. This is the folder that you located in step 2.

    3. Rename the RegFiles-v2.6.txt file so that it has a .bat extension. To do this, right-click the file, click Rename, delete the .txt extension, and then type .bat.
    4. Click Yes to change the file name extension.
    5. Double-click the RegFiles-v2.6.bat file to run the file.
    6. You receive a message for each Microsoft FRx .dll file. The message states whether the file was registered successfully. Note the full path and the file name of each file that is not registered successfully.
  5. Manually register any files that are not registered successfully. To do this, follow these steps for each file that is not registered successfully:
    1. Find the file by using Windows Explorer. The file should be located at the path that you noted in step 4f.

Note If you cannot locate the file, you can copy the file from a working Microsoft FRx workstation.
    2. Right-click the file, and then click Open With
    3. In the Open With dialog box, click Browse or Other, and then locate the System32 folder.

Note For Windows Vista and for Windows XP, the default location of this folder is C:\Windows\System32. For Windows Server 2003, the default location of this folder is C:\WinNT\System32.
    4. In the System32 folder, click the RegSvr32.exe file.

    5. Click OK to close all the dialog boxes. You should receive a message that states that the file was registered successfully.
    6. Repeat steps 5a through 5e for each file whose successful registration was not confirmed in step 4.
