Unable to connect to meeting using the Live Meeting web-based console

Symptoms

When joining a Live Meeting by using the web-based console, the browser window seems to momentarily stop responding, and then you receive a notification the meeting has ended.

Cause

This issue occurs because versions of the Java console later than 1.16.18 contain a security feature that prevents mixed signed and unsigned code from lauching in Java. The Live Meeting web-based console is an unsigned code.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for your situation.

Change the settings of the Java security feature

To change the settings of the Java security feature, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Java.
  2. Click the Advanced tab, and then expand Security.
  3. Expand Mixed code (sandboxed vs. trusted) security verification, then click Enable - hide warning and run with protections, and then click OK.

Disable the next generation Java Plug-in

To disable the next generation Java Plug-in, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Java.
  2. Click the Advanced tab, and then expand Java Plug-in.
  3. Select and clear the check box for Enable the next-generation Java Plug-in (requires browser restart), then click OK, and then restart Internet Explorer.
