If your Surface Pen isn’t working, try these steps to get it going again.
Replace the battery. Your pen might need a new battery—Surface Pen uses one AAAA battery.
Pair through Bluetooth. Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices. If your Surface Pen is listed under Other devices, select it and then choose Remove device. Hold down the top eraser button of the Surface Pen for about seven seconds. When it appears in the list of Bluetooth devices,select it and then choose Pair.
- Check for updates. Go to Start > Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates.
- If these steps do not resolve your pen issue, the problem may be your Surface device. You can check your warranty, find out the cost and request service online.
