"Unable to load DLL 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.RecorderBarBHO100.dll'" error message when you try to stop the Web Test Recorder in Visual Studio 2012

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 on a computer that is running a 64-bit version of Windows and Internet Explorer 10.
  • You use the Web Test Recorder to record a Web test.
  • You try to stop the Web test recording.
In this scenario, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Unable to load DLL 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.RecorderBarBHO100.dll'. The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E).
Additionally, the instance of Internet Explorer 10 that is used to record the Web test is not automatically closed.

Note This problem occurs only the first time that you try to use the Web Test Recorder to record a Web test. This problem does not occur on later attempts to record a Web test.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

To work around this problem, close the instance of Internet Explorer 10, and then delete the recorded Web test.
