WMP11 causes huge CPU load on WME 9 [Bug 70590]

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have Windows Media Encoder 9 Series installed on a Windows XP machine.
  • You have Windows Media Player 10 or earlier or the Windows Media Format SDK 9.5 runtime or earlier installed.
  • You install Windows Media Player 11.

When encoding content with the same encoder profile as before installing Windows Media Player 11, you experience a higher CPU load or the content takes a longer time to encode.

The complexity settings are remapped , merely a remapping of complexity levels underneath which direct effect encode times ( basically giving you better quality at same complexity ).
lower settings

This behavior is by design.
