Streaming Media with RealVideo

To configure Windows Media Player to use a proxy server for streaming media with RealVideo, follow these steps:


  1. In Windows Media Player, click Options on the View menu.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Click Streaming Media With RealVideo, and then click Change.
  4. On the Proxy tab, click the Use Proxy check box to select it.
  5. Type the appropriate proxy server name in the NetShow and Http Proxy boxes.
  6. Click OK, and then click OK.
  7. Quit and then restart Windows Media Player.

Windows Media

To configure Windows Media Player to use a proxy server for Windows Media, follow these steps:


  1. In Windows Media Player, click Options on the View menu.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Click Windows Media, and then click Change.
  4. Click the HTTP check box to select it.
  5. Click Use Proxy, and then click Configure Proxy Settings.


    NOTE: When you install Windows Media Player, if your Web browser is already configured to use a proxy server, Windows Media Player is configured with "Use browser proxy settings" by default.
  6. In the "Enter your proxy hostname and port" box, type the appropriate proxy server name, and then type the port number assigned to the proxy server in the Port box.
  7. Click OK, click OK, and then click OK.
  8. Quit and then restart Windows Media Player.
