The Network Neighborhood Icon No Longer Appears on the Desktop

The Network Neighborhood icon may not appear on the desktop or in Windows Explorer.

This behavior can occur if the TweakUI program is installed and configured to hide the Network Neighborhood icon.

A network client such as Client for Microsoft Networks or Client for NetWare Networks is not installed on your computer.

To resolve this behavior, use the TweakUI program to enable the Network Neighborhood icon. To do so, use the following steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel and then double- click TweakUI.
  2. Click the Desktop tab, click the Network Neighborhood check box to select it, click OK, and then click OK.
  3. Restart your computer.
