Cause: You can add animation effects to the slide master and its corresponding slide layouts when you create a presentation in PowerPoint for Mac but the animation won't work if you open the presentation in PowerPoint 2004 or an earlier version.
Solution: Only animate text or objects in normal view.
To make the presentation that you create in PowerPoint compatible with earlier versions, don't apply animation effects to the slide master or its corresponding slide layouts in slide master view.
