Symptoms
When you use the stored procedure sp_xml_preparedocument to open XML documents in Microsoft SQL Server, an access violation occurs. In addition, you may experience an increase in OPENXML sessions waiting on the "PREEMPTIVE_OS_LIBRARYOPS" wait type.
Resolution
This issue is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:
Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2017
Cumulative Update 9 for SQL Server 2016 RTM
