Method 1: Exit all applicationsExit all application before you start Entourage. To do this, click Apple in the Finder, and then click Force Quit. Exit all applications that are running except for Finder.
If the Force Quit window does not open, press and hold the Command and Option keys, and then press Escape. In the Force Quit Application window, select the application, and then select Force Quit.
For example, the following screen shot shows that the Bluetooth File Exchange program is running. To exit the program, select it, and then click Force Quit. If more than one application is running, select each application, and then click Force Quit. Continue to do this until you see only Finder in the Force Quit Application window.
If the issue continues to occur, try the next method.
Method 2: Download and install the latest Office 2008 for Mac updateIf you do not have the latest Entourage update installed, you may experience the problem that is described in the "Symptoms" section. To see which version of Entourage you have installed, follow these steps:
- Start Microsoft Word.
- On the Word menu, click Help, and then click About Word.
- On the Word menu, click Help, and then click Check for Updates.
- Download and install the update.
Method 3: Rebuild the Entourage databaseTo rebuild the Entourage database, see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article, and perform steps 2, 3, and 4.
