Description of the SharePoint Server 2010 cumulative update package (SharePoint server-package): February 12, 2013


Cumulative update packages for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 contain hotfixes for the issues that were fixed since the release of SharePoint Server 2010.

Note This is build 14.0.6134.5000 of the cumulative update package.

We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment. Because the builds are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and security updates that were included in the previous SharePoint Server 2010 update package releases.

Important notes about the cumulative update package
  • Microsoft Office 2010 hotfixes are now multilingual. This cumulative update package contains updates for all languages.
  • This cumulative update package includes all the server component packages. Additionally, this cumulative update package updates only those components that are installed on the system.

Known issue 1

After you install this hotfix, you must restart the User Profile Synchronization service to make the User Profile Synchronization service function correctly.
To work around this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Go to the Central Administration page.
  2. In the System Settings section, click Manage Services.
  3. In the list of services that is displayed, find the User Profile Synchronization service, and then click Stop if the status of the service is Started. As soon as the status is Stopped, click Start, and then provide the credentials to start the User Profile Synchronization service.

Known issue 2

If you do not run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard (PSConfigUI.exe) after you install the cumulative update package, the farm will have reduced functionality. For example, the search index the search function will not index content if you do not run PSConfigUI.exe This wizard updates the farm to the latest version. This step is required in order to guarantee that you have full SharePoint functionality.


Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • When you remove a hyperlink from a Hyperlink with formatting constraints for publishing column in SharePoint Server 2010, new hyperlinks cannot be added to the column.

  • Assume that you have a document library named “Transfer” that has been recently accessed in SharePoint Server 2010. You run the Merge-SPLogFile cmdlet to return Unified Logging Service (ULS) log entries by using a correlation ID filter. In this situation, the cmdlet returns no results and you receive the following error message:
    WARNING: Cmdlet did not return any records in the log file. Check your time range or filters.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problems that are described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problems described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. SharePoint Server 2010 hotfixes that are included in the cumulative update package for SharePoint Server 2010

This cumulative update package contains all the .msp files that we released as hotfixes or as public updates for SharePoint Server 2010. This update package also targets SharePoint Foundation 2010. Therefore, you do not have to install that package separately.


To install this hotfix, you must have SharePoint Server 2010 Service Pack 1 or SharePoint Foundation 2010 Service Pack 1 installed.
