If Palm Desktop Services is running, it is actively listening on the COM1 port for a dock signal from a palm device. When ActiveSync attempts to listen on the same port, it sees the port in use.
If Palm Desktop Services is installed, uninstall it:
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click Palm Desktop Services in the list of installed programs, and then click Add/Remove.
- Follow the instructions to completely remove the program.
- Restart your computer.
- Run the ActiveSync Get Connected Wizard again. COM1 should be available for use.
