Unable to move a folder from personal mailbox to a shared mailbox

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario when running Outlook 2013 with a shared mailbox in cached mode.

  • You attempt to move a folder from your mailbox to a shared mailbox, but the folder does not move and you receive no error message.

Cause

This problem occurs when Download shared folders is enabled for your Outlook profile.

Note Please use the following steps to confirm if the Download shared folders setting is enabled.
  1. In Outlook 2013, click File.
  2. Click Account Settings to expand the menu, and then click Account Settings again.
  3. Click Change under the E-mail tab and click More Settings.
  4. On the Advanced tab, examine the Download shared folders setting as shown in the following figure:



Resolution

This issue is resolved by installing the update from the following article.


Workaround

Note: If you're not able to install the update at this time, you can use the following temporary workaround.

  1. In Outlook 2013, click File.
  2. Click Account Settings to expand the menu, and then click Account Settings again.
  3. Click Change under the E-mail tab and click More Settings.
  4. On the Advanced tab, examine the Download shared folders setting as shown in the following figure:


  5. Click OK, and then restart Outlook as prompted.
