DPM server takes too long to complete backup tasks in Windows Server 2012 R2

This article describes an issue that occurs when Data Protection Manager (DPM) server performs backup tasks in Windows Server 2012 R2. A hotfix is available to fix this issue. Before you install this hotfix, see the Prerequisites section.

Symptoms

DPM server takes longer than the allocated hours to complete the backup tasks, and results in some backup tasks being aborted when the allocated time expires.

Resolution

To fix this issue, we have released a hotfix for Windows Server 2012 R2.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that's described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

To apply this hotfix, you must have update 2919355 installed in Windows Server 2012 R2.
