Items are missing on mobile device when synchronizing with Exchange ActiveSync

Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:

  • An Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) client is used to receive email messages on a mobile device.
  • The EAS client tries to synchronize multiple folders at the same time.
  • There are many new items available for one or more of the folders.

In this scenario, some messages may not be available on the mobile device.
Cause
The Exchange ActiveSync client didn't receive the response from a Sync request and Exchange didn't send the items in the second request from the client.
Workaround
Disable the synchronization of email on the EAS client, and then re-enable email for the client. 
Status
This is a known issue. We're investigating this issue and will post more information in this article when that information becomes available.
