Summary

This article describes the issues that are fixed in the Microsoft Office Excel 2007 hotfix package that is dated April 24, 2012.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Assume that you have an .xls file that is protected by Information Rights Management (IRM) on a network share. When you open the file in Excel 2007, a File In Use dialog box appears. However, the dialog box does not display the correct name of the user who locked the file. Therefore, you cannot edit the file.

  • A parameter query table in a worksheet is not updated when the worksheet contains another query table in Excel 2007.

  • Assume that the default save format is set to Excel 97-2003 Binary Interchange File Format version 8 (BIFF8) in Excel 2007. When you send a shared .xlsx file as an attachment in an email message, and the file has an .xlsx file name extension but has BIFF8 content, you cannot open the file. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Excel cannot open the file 'FileName.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.
