This article describes a problem that occurs if you enable data deduplication and then run a data scrubbing job on a deduplicated volume in Windows Server 2012 R2. An update is available to fix this issue. Before you install this update, see the Prerequisites section.

Symptoms

Assume that you have a computer that's running Windows Server 2012 R2, and you have enabled data deduplication in one or more volumes on your system. When you run a data scrubbing job on a deduplicated volume, the job may freeze or fail.

Cause

This problem occurs because redundant actions were performed during data scrubbing.
