Symptoms

Assume that Microsoft Lync server 2013 File Share server is experiencing high latency. In this situation, when you dial into a conference, you experience long periods of silence. This is caused by the latency on file I/O operations to the file server.

Additionally, after you turn off name recording by running the Set-CsDialInConferencingConfiguration -EnableNameRecording $false cmdlet in this situation, you continue to experience the same issue.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Lync Conference Attendant Application (CAA) process doesn't end all file share I/O requests to the file share server when name recording is disabled.

Resolution

To fix this issue, install the August 2016 cumulative update 5.0.8308.965 for Lync Server 2013, Conferencing Attendant.
