Windows Media Player wasn't closed properly. A damaged or incompatible plug-in might have caused the problem. As a precaution, all optional plug-ins have been disabled.
Things to try
- Select the Tools menu, point to Plug-ins, and then select each plug-in that has a check mark next to its name.
This disables all optional plug-ins. If the Tools menu isn't visible, press Ctrl+M to display the menu bar.
- Select the Tools menu, point to Plug-ins, and then select one of the plug-ins.
This enables the plug-in.
- Play the same content that you were playing when the Player closed unexpectedly.
- Do one of the following:
- If the Player closes unexpectedly, select the Tools menu, select Options, and then select the Plug-ins tab. Select the plug-in that you last enabled, and then select Remove.
- If the Player does not close unexpectedly, enable another plug-in, and then repeat Steps 3 and 4 until you identify the damaged or incompatible plug-in.
