SYMPTOMS

After applying hotfix 835732 to Windows 2000/XP machine, you may receive "Object Name Already Exists" error message after machine reboot.

CAUSE

After each reboot, the "Plug and Play" system service search for new hardware devices. If there is a fault device driver installation in the system, the "Plug and Play" system service will try to bring the device to be online, but will fail due the driver multifunction.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue please follow this steps:
 
1. Backup your system by using Windows backup utility.
 
   Note: If you are using Windows XP Home Edition you may need to install the backup software manually:
            
 
2. Disable "System Restore":
 
        
 
3. Go to: "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "System" -> "Hardware" -> "Device Manger".
 
4. Press on "View" tab and choose " Show Hidden Devices".
 
5. Uninstall any device driver with "Yellow" or "Red" mark.
 
6. Reboot.
 
7. Reinstall hotfix 835732.
 
    Note: You may need to download the hotfix manually and then reinstall it.
 
8. Reboot.
 
9. Enable "System Restore":
