"0xD1" Stop error when a virtual machine crashes on a Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V host

Symptoms

Assume that you're running virtual machines (VM) in a Hyper-V environment in Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, or Windows 8. The virtual guests have little network activity. In this scenario, a guest VM experiences a Stop error 0xD1 (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL).

Cause

This issue occurs because of a race condition in a component in the integration services of Hyper-V.
