Operating Systems Support Update
The following versions of Windows, and the versions of Windows that are listed in the Host Integration Server 2010 Installation Guide, support Cumulative Update 6 for Host Integration Server 2010 and later cumulative updates:
- Windows Server 2012
- Windows 8
However, the following issues may occur when you try to install Host Integration Server 2010 a computer that is running Windows Server 2012 or Windows 8.
Issue 1Assume that the WEBSPHERE_MQ_CHANNEL feature is enabled for the installation of Host Integration Server 2010. When you try install Host Integration Server 2010 by using a command-line tool in Windows Server 2012, the installation process fails.
Note If the "WCF Channel for WebSphere MQ" option is disabled, you can successfully install Host Integration Server 2010 by using the Setup.exe GUI interface. However, the Host Integration Server 2010 Setup program cannot install the "WCF Channel for WebSphere MQ" feature on Windows Server 2012 because the Setup program does not have read/write permissions for the registry keys. The Setup program must use the registry keys to determine which version of the .NET Framework 4 is installed.
Issue 2Assume that some 64-bit Host Integration servers host LU 6.2 (APPC) sessions that are used to connect to IBM host systems. In this situation, 32-bit CPI-C applications cannot connect to the 64-bit Host Integration servers.
