Symptoms
SQL Server may crash because of an access violation error that occurs while it reads data from an event file target that is created by SQL Server Extended Events. This issue occurs in SQL Server 2012 SP3, SQL Server 2014, and SQL Server 2016.
Resolution
This problem was first fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:
