The performance of a Windows Server 2008 R2-based domain controller is slower than expected. When this issue occurs, the following issues also occur:
- The domain controller contains lots of open handles that are hosted by the Lsass.exe process.

Additionally, you cannot stop the Server service, and the following events are logged in Event Viewer on the ADFS servers:
This issue is caused by a race condition that involves a timer object that is maintained by the Srv2.sys file. The race condition then affects the cleanup and closure of durable handles.
