When a user tries to open a single instance of a recurring meeting in Microsoft Outlook, he or she receives the following error message:
Sorry, we're having trouble opening this item. This could be temporary, but if you see it again you might want to restart Outlook. You changed one of the recurrences of this item, and this instance no longer exists. Close any open items and try again.
This issue occurs when an Exchange ActiveSync client removes the TimeZone properties from the recurring meeting. To open and correctly display the meeting, Outlook must know the time zone in which the organizer is located.
To work around this issue, remove the affected attendee from the meeting, and then reinvite that attendee to the meeting.
Microsoft is aware of this issue and is currently investigating it.
