This article applies to the following product:

  • Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 version 3.0

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You install Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 version 3.0 on a computer.

Note OLE DB Provider for DB2 version 3.0 is included in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Feature Pack.

  • A column in a DB2 database contains some Hebrew characters and some numbers.

Note The Hebrew characters may appear first in the column, or the numbers may appear first in the column.

  • You run an application that retrieves the column value. This application uses OLE DB Provider to connect to the DB2 database.

In this scenario, the retrieved value has an incorrect order of the Hebrew characters and of the numbers.

For example, the following is returned if the column has the value:

"עברית345"

Cause

This issue occurs because OLE DB Provider does not perform right-to-left code page conversions when a column contains some Hebrew characters and some numbers in the DB2 database. Therefore, the application retrieves the data in an incorrect order.
