Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use the Fdeploy1.ini file to configure the Folder Redirection policy in an Active Directory domain environment.

  • The "Folder_Redirection" section of the Fdeploy1.ini file contains more than 32,767 characters. Additionally, each line of the "Folder_Redirection" section of the Fdeploy1.ini file contains a maximum of 32,767 characters.

  • You deploy the Folder Redirection policy on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.

In this scenario, folders are not redirected successfully. When you try to show the Folder Redirection policy settings in the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC), you receive the following error message:

An unknown error occurred while data was gathered for this extension. Details: FRSettingRead failed with -2147467259

Cause

The issue occurs because of a limit in the system API that is used to read the "Folder_Redirection" section of the Fdeploy1.ini file.
