Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 fix release.
Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:

You create a report that contains an embedded image in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services (SSRS 2008) and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services (SSRS 2008 R2).

You deploy the report to the Report Server service.

You try to view the report through a Plumtree portal.
In this scenario, the image is incorrectly displayed as a red cross in the report.
Note This issue does not occur if the report server is running Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services (SSRS 2005).
Cause
This issue occurs because SSRS 2008 and SSRS 2008 R2 does not set the Content–Type field for the embedded image in the report.
For example, the Content–Type field is incorrectly not set to Content-Type: image/jpeg when you embed a JPEG image in a report.
Note A Plumtree portal relies on the content type to display the images. If the content type is not present, the image is displayed as a red cross. However, the report is displayed correctly when you view the report outside the Plumtree portal.
