This article applies to the following product:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Adapter Pack 2.0

  • Microsoft BizTalk Adapter Pack 2010

  • Standalone WCF-based BizTalk Adapter for SQL Server

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You create several Microsoft BizTalk Server receive locations or send ports.

  • The receive locations or send ports use the WCF-SQL adapter from Microsoft BizTalk Adapter Pack 2.0 or from BizTalk Adapter Pack 2010 to access data in a Microsoft SQL Server database.

  • An error occurs in the WCF-SQL adapter.

In this scenario, the event log entry does not include useful information such as the following:

  • The name of the receive location or of the send port

  • The name of an instance of SQL Server

  • A database name

This makes it difficult to locate the receive location or send port that is causing the problem.

For example, a stored procedure that is called in a receive location raises an exception, and the WCF-SQL Adapter writes the following event log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: <BizTalk Server version>
Event Category: <BizTalk Server version>
Event ID: 5750

Description:

The adapter "WCF-SQL" raised an error message. Details :System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection)
