Symptoms

Assume that you start offline files synchronization on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. In this situation, the synchronization may not finish. Additionally, the following error message is logged in Sync Center:

The specified network name is no longer available.

Cause

This issue occurs because client-side caching (CSC) aborts the sync handle to make sure that other processes can access a file that is synchronizing. After the sync handle is aborted, CSC returns a STATUS_CONNECTION_DISCONNECTED status code, and then that results in an ERROR_NETNAME_DELETED error code. This causes the synchronization of all remaining offline files to be canceled.

Resolution
