Summary

This article describes the Microsoft Excel 2010 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated December 16, 2011.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You insert a shape into an Excel 2003 workbook.

    • You set the rotation of the shape to 45 degrees, 135 degrees, 225 degrees, or 315 degrees, and then you flip the shape vertically or horizontally.

    • You save the workbook as an .xls file.

    • You open the workbook in Excel 2010.

In this scenario, the shape is displayed differently in Excel 2010 than in Excel 2003. More specifically, the width and height of the shape are reversed in Excel 2010.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You insert a text box into an Excel workbook.

    • The text box contains a large amount of text, and the Resize shape to fit text property of the text box is enabled.

    • You save the workbook as an .xls file, close the workbook, and then reopen it in Excel 2010.

In this situation, the text overflows the text box.

Note Excel 2003 displays the text box correctly.
