Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You create a Network File System (NFS) share on an NFS server that is running Windows Server 2008.

  • You enable the Allow root access feature on the NFS server.

  • You add the root account to the administrators group.

  • You try to copy files from a UNIX-based NFS client to the NFS share by using the root account.

In this scenario, the copy operation fails and you receive the following error message:

Access is denied

Cause

This issue occurs because of an issue in the Nfssvr.sys driver.
