Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Microsoft SQL Server 2012 fixes in one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security updates that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Microsoft SQL Server 2012 update release.
Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:

You create a role that has access permissions for some dimension attributes of a cube in a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008 R2) project that is in Microsoft Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS).

You select Select all members, and then customize the attribute hierarchy by deselecting one or more attribute members on the Basic tab of the Dimension Data page of Role Designer. This changes the text of the Attribute Hierarchy field from <Attribute name> to <Attribute name> (attribute security defined).

You save the role, and then you deploy the project.

You reopen the role in BIDS.
In this scenario, the attribute hierarchy settings on the Basic tab of the Dimension Data page are lost. However, the attribute hierarchy settings still remain on the Advanced tab of the Dimension Data page.

This issue does not occur if you define the role by selecting Deselect all members instead of selecting Select all members in the scenario.

This issue does not occur if you define the role, and then reopen the role in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).

After apply this hotfix, the attribute hierarchy settings in basic subpage of dimension data page are correct after you reopen the role in the BIDS.
